Associate Professor Mileshkin is a medical oncologist and a clinical researcher with a particular interest in the treatment of lung and gynaecological cancers, as well as the supportive care of people affected by cancer. She runs Australia’s only specialist clinic dedicated to the care of people affected by Cancer of Unknown Primary (CUP). She consults at Peter Mac in Parkville and at the Mercy Hospital for Women in Heidelberg.
Her current research focuses on:
- Early and late phase clinical trials testing novel therapies for cancer
- The supportive care of people affected by cancer
She is the clinical trials lead for Gynae-Oncology in the Parkville Cancer Clinical Trials Unit and is the Chair of the Gynaecological Tumour Group for Cancer Trials Australia as well as a core member of the PeterMac Department for Cancer Experiences Research. She is the principal investigator for multiple international and national phase 1-3 clinical trials She is also very involved in the Australia New Zealand Gynaecological Oncology Group (ANZGOG) as a member of the board and the Research Advisory Committee. In addition, she is the Deputy Director of Medical Oncology at Peter MacCallum and leads the education programs for junior medical staff who rotate through the department.
Associate Professor Mileshkin was appointed VCCC Research and Education Lead – Gynae-oncology in 2018. In this role she is working to map opportunities across the alliance to develop expert networks, deliver strategic educational programming, improve sharing of data for research, and implement multi-partner clinical trials to speed up the translation of new research into routine clinical practice.
